TorcPlug improves efficiency and reduce number of runs in leak detection operation on US land
Challenge
A North American customer faced a critical challenge: a persistent leak in the production tubing below the wellhead. The customer needed a solution that allowed for multiple re-positionings to accurately identify and address the leaks in the well.
Solution
The TorcPlug from E Plug was chosen for its ability to be set and reset multiple times within the same run. This capability enabled the team to latch on and off the plug as many times as needed to accurately locate the leak paths. Additionally, the TorcPlug could serve as a V0 barrier to suspend the well if necessary, offering an extra layer of flexibility and safety.
During the operation, the TorcPlug was set and unset 16 times, meticulously identifying two different leak paths. This process was conducted over two days, significantly reducing the time and risk typically associated with such operations.
The highly compatible telemetry system of the Electric Manipulation Tool (EMT) provided real-time monitoring and precise control, ensuring reliable performance throughout the operation.

Thanks to the TorcPlug multi-set capabilities, the customer was able to accurately identify the leak paths and proceed with the correct solution for fixing the leaks. This efficient approach saved a substantial amount of time and minimized operational risks.
