TorcPlug
Multi-set retrievable barrier qualified bridge plug.
The TorcPlug is based on a bolt and nut principle where all the components are placed in conjunction with a threaded shaft that runs through the plug. When the shaft is rotated in one direction it retracts the core mandrel and compresses the outer components, and when it rotates in the other direction all of those components are mechanically retracted. By application of rotation and torque provided by the EMT the TorcPlug setting process is monitored and controlled, ensuring that the applicable setting and retraction forces are being applied.
With regards to equalization the TorcPlug incorporates a redundant valve feature that is operated on a secondary shaft. The EMT can change gear positions in order to turn this valve shaft independently from the plug setting/retrieval feature. This allows for independent equalization through the center of the TorcPlug on the same run, prior to releasing it. After the TorcPlug has been equalized and released the valve can be put back into closed position.
This design allows the TorcPlug to be operated multiple times allowing the operator to make use of the TorcPlug for several applications in a single run.
