Challenge
Multi-zone perforation and acid stimulation are now recognized techniques for enhancing productivity in gas carbonate and chalk reservoirs. Completion and Well Intervention departments often face challenges with zone segmentation and barrier retrieval, where standard bridge/stimulation plugs can present operational and technical limitations.

Solution
To overcome the challenges and ensure successful deployment and segmentation, E Plug's ISO 14310 VO TorcPlug with EMT Electric Manipulation Tool technology was selected for these applications. The E Plug solution eliminates all standard plug limitations, offering:
- Multiple Set and Reset Capabilities: Functions effectively in harsh environments.
- Bi-Directional Telemetry: Provides real-time data and surface control of the downhole electric manipulation tool (EMT), offering insights into plug status, including:
- Confirmation of tool movement in challenging conveyance conditions.
- Detection of signatures indicating if the plug is set across debris or perforations.
- Clear setting/unsetting graphs to support decision-making.
Additionally, the plug ensures precise equalization of differential pressure through a valve and packer element, while maintaining a strong holding force to the casing ID. This advanced solution significantly enhances operational efficiency and reliability in demanding environments.
TorcPlug was chosen due to its ability to be set and reset multiple times for the segmentation. The plug could be set, and perforation and acid stimulation could be performed for the first cluster.
The next stage was to move the plug and repeat the process. Saving significant time and cost.

- The TorcPlug has achieved a significant milestone with over 20 successful plug resets. This has resulted in total estimated savings of 23.4 rig days and an additional estimated 114 project days.
